BBQ&A

I want to share my knowledge of BBQ with the world. Just don’t ask me how I make my secret BBQ sauce or smoke my meats.

Hey, Lloyd. Can I serve refrigerated meat products after the expiration date?

My products should be used or frozen by the “Use By” or “Freeze By” date printed on the product. You can safely refrigerate the meat products until the “Enjoy By”, “Use By”, or “Freeze By” date as long as the package is unopened. Once the package is opened, the general rule is to keep the product refrigerated and to use it within three to five days.

I thawed my LLOYD’S BARBEQUE® Tub but was unable to use it. Can I freeze the tub again?

Good question. Once thawed, tubs can be re-frozen. I recommend only doing this once.

Are LLOYD’S BARBEQUE® Tubs recyclable?

Yes, my LLOYD’S BARBEQUE® Tubs and Lids are recyclable. They are #5.

The meat is pink inside. Is it undercooked?

The pink color in the meat is not an indication that it is undercooked. In the smoking process the meat develops what is called a “smoke ring”, which is the light pink-colored portion of the meat.

Are LLOYD’S® products fully cooked?

Yes, all LLOYD’S® products are fully cooked and ready to heat and eat.

How do I prepare LLOYD’S® Ribs?

You can heat my LLOYD’S®; Ribs on the grill, or in a conventional oven. Instructions for preparation appear on the back label of the product. Be sure to peel off the back label for more detailed preparation instructions. They are located on the INSIDE of the back label.

Preparation instructions for LLOYD’S® products also appear on this web site. Find your LLOYD’S® product by visiting the product page.

OR

To prepare tender, restaurant-style ribs in a conventional oven: USE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE LABEL:

  1. Heat oven to 375°F degrees.
  2. Remove ribs from package and place on center of sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil large enough to extend 3 to 4 inches beyond each end of ribs. Spread the sauce all over ribs or save for later.
  3. Cover with another sheet of foil. Wrap foil tightly around ribs.
  4. Place foil-packed ribs in large shallow baking pan. Bake refrigerated ribs 45-50 minutes, frozen ribs 60 to 70 minutes.

Open foil carefully – HOT STEAM will escape.

*You can use two sheets of regular aluminum foil placed on top of each other instead of the heavy-duty aluminum foil.

How do I prepare LLOYD’S BARBEQUE® Tubs?

You can heat tub products in the microwave directly or transfer them to a pan and heat on the stovetop. We do not recommend re-using the container. It is designed for a single use, not for repeated uses. Preparation instructions for LLOYD’S® products also appear on this web site. Find your LLOYD’S® product by visiting the product page.
